Think back

I was ten. I lived in Michigan at KI Sawyer AFB (now defunct) and I hadn't really figured out just how complicated life could be. Boy, was I in for a shock! I still dreamed of having a family of 6 children (yeah, THAT's not happening any time soon!) Matt was 18! When I asked him, he said he was probably working at Burger King and doing lots of Martial Arts. He hadn't left on a mission yet and was just figuring out what to do with his life.

I was 20. I had joined the Military and was stationed at the Presidio of Monterey at the Defense Language Institute learning Korean. I wasn't very good at it however. I had rocked out of the course and was running the Training Room. Matt and I had been married just over a year and we were preparing to move to Texas...me to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio and Matt was headed to Goodfellow AFB. The first of many separations....

We were here in Texas, this house. Connor was one year old. Matt was in Korea and we were just getting along day by day. I was in the Primary with Ginger and Debbie...some of the best memories I have from then. I spent my time teaching between 8-12 yoga classes a week and scrapbooking. Connor still thought that Daddy was the computer. In fact, when Matt returned, he called him "mom"! He didn't know anyone with a Dad so he assumed all parents were Mom or Mommy!

Maddy was just a tiny thing...still is. Matt had recently returned from Iraq and we were adjusting to being a family of 4. I was teaching yoga and pilates at Gym X, dancing Can can and Matt was a platoon SGT. Connor was going to preschool with Debbie Sessions and loved to play with Dakota all day...every day.

Matt was in Iraq again and we were doing everything we could to stay busy. I had finished building the extension on the house and taken my first few trapeze lessons. The kids had just started Gymnastics and Dance. I was going to College online. We had just found out that Matt was not coming home for R&R as hoped. It had been 8 months already and they were extended to 15 months. I was just exhausted and missed him terribly. He finally made it home at the 11 month mark

So far this year
The biggest event was welcoming Matt home. Connor's done so well in school, Maddy is learning and growing....only 2 more years till she can go to school! We are just going with the flow, enjoying time off for the summer. I'm building my photography business and looking at more school for me. Matt is the 1SG for his unit, working long hours but doing a wonderful job getting his soldiers ready to deploy.

Yesterday
Hmm..
. Yesterday was a typical Saturday. Crazy and lazy! We started out with a trip to VLA for the Breakfast with the Cat in the Hat. I did the promo pictures and the kids checked out a car show with Matt. After that we had a family outing to Mc D's
for junk food lunch. Matt and I read while the kids exhausted themselves on the play equipment. Then it was off to home for a long nap, processing all the pictures and lazing about!

Today
We rolled out the door for Church and the kids are down for an after-church nap while Matt does a quick barracks check....then lazing about for the afternoon with lots of cuddles and maybe a fun movie..

Tomorrow
Gee, I'd have to check my calendar. I have to worry about today before tomorrow takes over. I do know that I'll be a mom and clean the house and do some other stuff too. Just life I guess.

In the next year
My baby sister is getting married this summer, so it's road trip time! I haven't been back to Michigan in years, but it's wonderful in the summer, so it will be fun. I do know I'd love to go on a big vacation (Disney!), visit friends and family in Colorado and actually lose 20lbs (but probably not). Connor will start 1st Grade and Maddy will *hopefully* start a playgroup or something fun. We'll keep up gymnastics and Dance and church and the daily stuff. I'd like to take some more photography classes too. Matt leaves for Iraq again, so we will cram as much of the fun stuff in before he takes off again. Maybe I'll do another crazy project when he leaves and remodel the kitchen or something!

I tag Tresa, Amie, Dorshan
and Nichole
