Merry Christmas to all our family and loved ones! We hope that your holiday is filled with love and joy!
Behold, a virgin shall … bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel (2 Ne. 17:14).
And … the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph … ; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, … blessed art thou among women.
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
And, behold, thou shalt … bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. (Luke 1:26–28, 30–31.)
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Cæsar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, … unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. (Luke 2:1, 3–5.)
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inns (Luke 2:6–7, footnote 7b.)
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2:8–14.)
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us (Luke 2:15).
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God. (Luke 2:16–17, 20.)
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judæa in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled …
And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes … , he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judæa: for thus it is written by the prophet. …
Then Herod, when he had privily [privately] called the wise men,
… sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. (Matt. 2:1–5, 7–8.)
When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was (Matt. 2:9).
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and … they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh (Matt. 2:11).
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6).

Can you guess what blogs these are?
snapshot of my blog
When you take a snapshot of my blog, this is what it looks like. The larger words are found more often...smaller ones less frequently.
It's interesting to see it this way. There are a lot of positive uplifting words. I guess it's a way to look at my life and see that I"m pretty happy. If I could fix one thing....I'd blog more about the fun memories with my kids. They grow so fast that I worry I'll forget.
And those who know me, understand that that is a very real possiblity!

trying not to freak out.
This incident happened yesterday at school. By the time I figured out that it was not understandable, it was too late to go to the dr. Anyone have any clue? Was this a seizure?
My son's school called and told me that he had a "bathroom accident". He is 6 and in 1st grade. I was shocked because he never has accidents. I was unable to get to the school right away, so my friend brought him clean clothes. She consoled me by telling me her son had an accident at the beginning of the year. The kids get involved in a project and don't want to leave to go to the bathroom and sometimes they wait too long. I was embarrased, but she covered for me.
After school, I asked his teacher what happened. She said that he was overly dramatic, upset and worked up. She thought he was freaking out becuase he bit his cuticle and it was bleeding. She tried to give him a bandaid, but he fell on the floor and thrashed around and then suddenly got over it. That's when she saw he had an accident and sent him to the nurse.
This is so out of character for him. He bites his cuticles and never cares if they bleed a tiny bit. So I talked to him when we got home from errands (in private so he wouldn't be embarassed). He described it completely differently.
He said he "got up to get a pencil for the test. Suddenly, my eyesight was all blurry. Like when it starts to get dark and you can't see very good. Then the next time I knew it, I was on the floor and I had peed on myself"
I checked with the teacher and she admitted that he never actually said anything during the episode. Could this have been a seizure? I couldn't get him to the doctor because by the time I figured out it was more serious, it was too late to get in. Should I take him in on Monday or will they just tell me to go home and watch for it to happen again? Can they test if it is serious? Any suggestions?

Gratitude followed by a healthy dose of insanity.
While this week has been a tiny, itty bit stressful due to being sick, kids being sick and my computer crashing at the worst possible time, I have been blessed a great deal.
I had a friend save me when Connor's school called-she dealt with issues so I could finish a photoshoot. More on this topic later...after I'm done stressing about it.
I had a great, smart, talented guy fix my computer. (he swears he just turned it on) He also set up the new fancy, shiny computer that I'm typing this on.
I have Photoshop CS4. Yeah, 4 baby. But it's scary. It looks different and I'm in a groove. But I have my old computer, so I can wimp out if I am running behind on time. I do hope to get it mastered and learn all the fun new stuff quickly.
i'm thinking about singing up for Phaunt U in the spring. I may spring for it now so I can write it off for this year.....hmmmm.
My greatest thanks go out to Gina and Kathy G. These 2 women were AWESOME and made the ward party much less stressful. Gina was my battle buddy and Kathy swept in when we started to panic and just helped out and made it all look so easy. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
Thanks also should be said to Bro. L who made Santa a great experience for a bunch of kids. Sarah and Karyl who threw themselves in front of a chattering crowd and did a great job entertaining people. (At least THEY didn't fall off the stage.) Janice and co. I never got the chance to say thanks to all ya'll...so THANKS! I didn't even see what you were doing becuase I was doing my best impression of a chicken with her head cut off! The kids looked pleased so it must have been great. I do need to get with you later on all that.
And if ya'll didn't see the cute snowmen, well, you missed out on another Wetherson miracle. They (she recruited the kids) made some awesome snowmen. Matt pointed out that they are the deadliest decorations he's seen at a party....fortunately, nobody tried to play catch with the brick snowmen!
And thanks to the Bishop for being cool when we committed larceny. He accepted our plea of innocence and didn't pick on me at all. (I would have! But he's cool.)
So there you have it. A week of insanity.
And next week, my week of NOTHING....will be insane too.
I teach primary, feed the missionaries, go with them on a teaching apt on Sunday.
Work and clean like mad to get the house ready for preschool on Monday (what will we do for snack?!!?!)
Do massages and process pictures on Tuesday.
Finish up Christmas Shopping and wrap.
Oh, yeah. Bills.
Gymnastics, Dance, School Presentations, Cook dinner and do laundry at some point.
Move all my programs and files to the new computer
And enjoy the holiday.
Oh wait. Mail Julia's gift. Make something for all my friends. Write Christmas cards and mail them. Wrap and send the cards and gifts.
Go to the dentist.
then relax.
Oh yeah, Becky mentioned a girl's night out. (I may need it by then!)

Gratitude for.....photography
Usually I keep my buisness posts confined to my heartpics.blogspot.com blog or to my photosoftheheart.org website. But I HAD to share these and add this to my gratitude list for the month.
I love being a photographer. i love capturing special moments between people and finding the relationship. I like to showcase personality. I confess. I'm not that great. I have many sessions where I've felt that I didn't do a very good job. Unfortuanately, some of the sessions I've wanted to be great....fell flat. I'm not always sure why they don't work out, but I'm learning that I'm not a typical photographer. I'm not the best at getting posed group shots. Since that's a BIG part of traditional photography, I'm still working on finding my style...in a way that clients want.
Today was amazing. I have been sick as a dog, but Maura had begged me to squeeze her and her new husband in before he deploys. I am so glad that my coughing didn't scare them off and I am so glad that I didn't cancel! Today was amazing (Yeah, I know I said that already, but it's true!)
They wanted something fun and different. They gave me complete freedom to do anything I wanted and they specifically did NOT want a chain-studio style picture. It was a bit nerve wracking when I kept coughing instead of shooting, but I did manage to get a few (heck, a TON) of cool shots in.
So I am grateful that I'm learning to grow as an artist. I'm grateful that I had the chance to try something new...and I"m REALLY grateful that what I saw in my head showed up when I downloaded my images! And even if I get even worse (my cough is KILLING ME now) it was worth it.
Let me know what you think!
They are obviously madly in love and they were completely at ease....to the point of being extremely fun and goofy...I am going to have SO much fun processing the pictures. My only problem....how to pick my favorites! I think that these two are some of them. Now I just have to narrow down the 100 or so other shots!

Free Christmas Music....
Today at the mandatory fun time for Matt's unit (AKA: the Christmas Party) I had the chance to see my daughter's sweet spirit.
The kids were playing happily with the playdough until Santa showed up. Then Connor held his sister's hand as he provided moral support to a nervous (but excited) Maddy. They each gave Santa a hug and thanked him for the gift (provided by us earlier). Maddy was thrilled to get a tiny snowflake doll. She gazed at it with complete joy and then announced, "I have to thank Santa!" She ran back to the line of kids and stood there saying, "THANK YOU SANTA" and waving the doll for several minutes. He was focused on the other kids and didn't notice her, but she didn't let that stop her. She just kept trying to catch his eye and thank him for the gift.
That made my day.
I'm thankful for my children's sweet spirits.

Today I'm grateful for....Friends
Once again, I lost my post before I posted it.
But that being said. I'm grateful for my friends. Becky called out of the blue and took Maddy to gymnastics and then kept her all day to play at her house. I was feeling like dirt and the break was so appreciated.
This morning I felt so much worse. The drive to Connor's school seemed unbearably long. I dropped him off and brought Maddy home to wait for preschool. I sat on the couch and the next thing I knew....Amie was ringing the bell. I fell asleep on the couch with my coat still on. I must have really looked bad because Amy called to say she would pick up the kids from preschool. She offered to do that even though she was moving today!
I have so many friends who are so amazing....many who are not mentioned here. These women are fantastic and I know I don't thank them nearly enough for what they do. So let this be my public show of gratittude.
Thank you ladies for being my friend. Thank you for being who you are. You are wonderful.

I'm "sorry"
The signs of someone who reads a lot but doesn't really "get it". Notice the use of quotation marks around 'yelled'. Yeah. Sorry I "yelled" at you. I don't think it really counted as yelling, but I have to apologize...
Actually, he is really very sincere. For a 6 year old, he sure has had a lot of practice writing letters of apology to his teacher this year!
Just in case you can't read it....here is a link to a larger view.

Today I'm grateful for....
So I let Grati-Tuesday slip by when my internet started going fuzzy, but I'm going to resurrect it....plus some. I'm a bit late since it's the 4th but I'll just make this post extra cool.
I am going to blog about something that I'm grateful for EVERY DAY till Christmas.
1 December
~~~~~~~~~~~
I am grateful that it's December. This entire month is given over to celebrating the Savior's birth. It's a chance to focus on the true meaning of the season. It's an opportunity to remember the blessings that have been bestowed upon us, not just the physical blessings but the eternal blessings of the Atonement and the Plan of Salvation.
My family. I am consistantly amazed at how cool my kids are. I'm thrilled that I haven't messed them up too much yet. They are usually bright and shining examples of amazing, smart, loving, kind children. (Becky and Amy and Shanna know they are far from perfect, but they love them anyway!)
My husband will get his own post on a day when I haven't lost my article 3 times already. (I'm thankful that I saved part of it last time!)
3 December
My new computer! Woo Hoo! I am grateful that my finances allowed me to purchase this without going into debt. (Thanks to James, Tim and black Friday specials!)
~~~~~
4 December
I'm thankful for drugs. For all the easily accessable over-the-counter medications that I have at my disposal.
I'm thankful that I can choose to take Sudafed and breathe (even if it does keep me up all night) or I can try a vaporizor and Theraflu. I can just go down to All-mart or any other store in the area and get the meds that I need. It wasn't too long ago that people didn't have that convienent option.....

Theme Song for Christmas
While Handel's Messiah is my all time favorite Christmas music, we always have a "theme" song for Christmas. Last year, Connor wanted to hear Transiberian Orchestra's Wizards in Winter..over and over and over.
But since I can't find that cd (or my other favorite one....grrr.), we have been listening to some other cds and I found this year's song.
The kids were singing at the top of their lungs on the way home from school today.
Here are the lyrics.....
This year for christmas
Theres something Id really like
So if youre up there somewhere santa
Please dont bring me another bike
I dont need any ugly sweaters
And I dont play much basketball
But theres something kinda special
That I want most of all...
I want an alien for christmas
Bring me an alien this year
I want a little green guy
About three feet high
With seventeen eyes
Who knows how to fly
I want an alien for christmas this year
He can live in the bath tub
So dont worry about a thing
And Ill take him out for walks
When it gets nicer in the spring
Ill always keep him company
Hell never be alone
And we can hang around the house all day
And watch the twilight zone
I want an alien for christmas
Bring me an alien this year
I want a little green guy
About three feet high
With seventeen eyes
Who knows how to fly
I want an alien for christmas this year
I want an alien for christmas
Bring me an alien this year
I want a little green guy
